Abstract

To enhance social support for the elderly, particularly the psychological aspects, it is necessary to comprehend their personality types. This is helpful for comprehending the strengths of each personality type, which can be used to empower the concept of independent self-care. To reduce the prevalence of RKL, this personality type will be utilized to increase the elderly's independence in performing daily activities. This study aims to determine the relationship between personality types and the ability of elderly individuals to perform ADLs. In June through August of 2022, a cross-sectional study was conducted on 83 elderly residents of Panaikkang Village, Patallassang District, Gowa Regency. The JTI Questionnaire and Katz index were used to collect demographic information, personality type, and daily living abilities. This study reveals that there are slightly fewer introverted than extroverted elderly individuals. Due to the fact that the number of introverts and extroverts is almost identical, there may be health risks associated with the elderlys personalities. Personality type has a significant impact on the ability of the elderly to perform daily tasks. Therefore, it is recommended that medical personnel and local health agencies evaluate the personality of every elderly person who has received a medical exam or who resides in their service area. This
psychosocial screening must be performed routinely. This is essential so that medical personnel can educate the elderly, particularly their families, to be more sensitive to their condition and recognize the potential consequences of their personality limitations.
